The Clemson football team will begin play for the 2019 season Thursday. Here are five storylines to watch in the match up with Georgia Tech.

The wait for Clemson football is almost over.

After seven full months without football, the Tigers will return to action to begin the 2019 season with a home match up against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

The Clemson football program will be featured on ESPN College GameDay as it looks to return to the CFB Playoff for a fifth-straight season and defend its National Championship from a year ago.

The Tigers will have to replace several key contributors from last year’s team, including Christian Wilkins, Clelin Ferrell, Hunter Renfrow, Dexter Lawrence, Austin Bryant, Mitch Hyatt and several others. However, there’s reason to believe that this team could actually be better than the 2018 Clemson football team because of its returning and promising talent, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Clemson returns Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne, two of the nation’s top players, as well as Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins to lead the wide receivers.

The game will kick off at 8 p.m. Thursday evening on the newly-launched ACC Network. Davey O’Brien (play-by-play), Tim Hasselbeck (color), Katie George (sideline) and Maria Taylor (sideline) will have the call.

As we head into the beginning of the 2019 Clemson football season, here are five storylines to watch for the season-opening Georgia Tech game.
