The Clemson football team will open up Fall Camp this afternoon. Here’s a look at everything you need to know as the Tigers begin preseason practice.

We officially have Clemson football.

After several months with no practice or many news or notes, the Clemson football team will begin practicing in preparation for the upcoming season.

Though fans will have to wait a little bit longer before they see the team in action, media members will have the opportunity to get a few early looks at the team as they run through drills.

Fall camp is a special time of the year. It officially marks the beginning of College Football and allows all of us to know that it won’t be too much longer before we have football to watch each and every weekend.

Here’s everything you need to know coming into Clemson football’s fall camp.

Fall Camp Preview:

The team will begin practice Friday afternoon. Following the Friday practice, they will have a little over two weeks’ worth of sessions before turning their attention completely to Georgia Tech. With the season-opener being on a Thursday night, the Tigers will likely begin ‘game week’ by the middle of the week of August 15.

Clemson will begin with just helmets and shorts before transitioning to full pads. The Tigers will work through drills and have position battles and competition over the next couple of weeks before moving towards scouting work.

As fall camp progresses, fans should keep their ears out for news in the kicking & punting game, linebacker depth and how things are shaping up at running back behind Travis Etienne and Lyn-J Dixon.

It will be interesting to watch the Tigers’ defensive line, which has a lot of pieces taking on new roles, take on the offensive line- which is expected to be one of the best units in the country.

The battle between the wide receivers and defensive backs, especially with Derion Kendrick in the secondary, should make for a fun competition, as well.

Next. 5-star LB Justin Flowe becoming a real possibility. dark

Overall, we should expect to see the Clemson offense push the defense to get better. There are going to be a few days where Brent Venables is visibly frustrated, but he’ll still find a way to get the better of the offense at times during fall camp and will push his players to get better as a result.
