As we head into the month of August, here’s a look at the updated Vegas odds for Clemson football winning the National Championship.
The 2019 Clemson football season is less than a month away from kickoff.
After a long offseason, the Tigers are officially getting underway in terms of fall camp and are preparing for the upcoming season.
As they head into the new year, Clemson football will be looking to defend its National Championship. The last time we saw the Tigers in a game, they defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 44-16 back in January.
With that being said, this is a new season and winning back-to-back National Championships is something that has only been done a handful of times in the history of College Football. Interestingly enough, the only two programs to win consensus National Titles in back-to-back seasons since 1970 are Nebraska and Alabama.
Clemson football will work to become the third program to do so this season.
As we head into the month of August, here’s a look at the updated Vegas odds for the 2020 National Championship game, according to Bovada.
- Clemson +225
- Alabama +225
- Georgia +650
- Ohio State +950
- Michigan +1400
- Oklahoma +1500
- Texas +2000
- Oregon +2200
- LSU +2500
After LSU, every team has a +3000 or worse chance at winning the National Title. Just for reference, in-state rival South Carolina is listed at +30000 odds.
Looking at the title odds, it’s clear that Clemson and Alabama are the two favorites. Both programs have a favorable path to get back to the CFB Playoff and could potentially have a fifth matchup in a row before it’s all said and done.
Outside of Clemson and Alabama, it’s no surprise that Georgia and Ohio State are third and fourth, but there’s no reason, at least in my mind, that Michigan should be fifth. Both Big 12 teams- Oklahoma and Texas- have a better chance at winning the National Championship than the Wolverines.
At this point, it’s certainly likely that we see the Tigers and Tide back in the CFB Playoff with a couple of potentially familiar opponents.
Rubbing the Rock will have our official predictions for the upcoming season here in the next couple of weeks, so make sure you check back for a complete preview and analysis of the 2019 CFB season.
