5. Battles in the Special Teams

One of the first things of note will be the special teams.

The Tigers have a battle brewing at the punter position with incumbent starter Will Spiers and talented freshman Aidan Swanson.

Spiers is listed as the starter and is expected to win the position, but Swanson has a cannon for a leg and certainly could make things interesting.

In addition to the punting position, there are two other interesting battles in Special Teams: The kicker and the returners.

With Greg Huegel gone, the Tigers will turn to BT Potter as the placekicker. Potter will have to fend off a couple of guys and prove that he can be consistent in field goal kicking.

With Amari Rodgers out for the first part of the season, Clemson football will also need to find a punt returner and will likely continue to look at options in the kick returning game as well. Names to keep in the back of your mind should include Derion Kendrick, Travis Etienne, freshman Andrew Booth and Justyn Ross.
