The Clemson football team met back Thursday afternoon for the big ‘Weigh-In’ ahead of the beginning of fall camp Friday. Here’s a look at the results.

The Clemson football team met together with coaches for the first time in several months for the program’s annual ‘Weigh-In’ event.

As part of the event, every player steps on the scale and gets an official number for the upcoming season. This is the first part of the test for many players, who were either challenged to lose or gain weight, in the eyes of their coaches.

The weigh-in is a culmination of hard work put in during the summer. Here’s a look at some of the notable results from the event as we prepare for the beginning of Fall Camp.

Notable Offensive Weights:

  • Tee Higgins (217)
  • Trevor Lawrence (220)
  • Travis Etienne (208)
  • Jackson Carman (335)
  • Jaelyn Lay (270)
  • Justyn Ross (211)
  • Joseph Ngata (218)

There are several notable guys that come to my attention when looking at the list. Trevor Lawrence has put on five pounds, Tee Higgins is at 217, which is 12 pounds heavier than before while Justyn Ross added six pounds to be at 211.

Travis Etienne actually dropped some weight and is playing around 208 and Jackson Carman should be commended for the fact that he has dropped nearly 20 pounds to get down to 335. All five of the Tigers projected starters on the offensive line—Carman (335), Simpson (323), Pollard (302), Cervenka (322) and Anchrum (311)- are all over 300 pounds. Pollard lost 18 pounds to get down to that 302 range.

Notable Defensive Weights:

  • Xavier Thomas (268)
  • Nyles Pinckney (290)
  • Jordan Williams (303)
  • KJ Henry (251)
  • Isaiah Simmons (231)

Just a few notable weights on the defensive line: Xavier Thomas is up six pounds while Nyles Pinckney actually lost 15 pounds. KJ Henry, who was challenged to gain weight, is now up to 251- which is 11 pounds heavier than before.

Isaiah Simmons put on six pounds this summer, which could be a big asset for the Tigers as they use him a bit more in the run-stopping game this season at his SAM/Nickel position.
