Clemson Football: The Highest-Rated Recruit at every position all-time
The Clemson football program has recruited at a very high level for quite some time. Here’s a look at the highest-rated signee all-time at each position.
We all know that star-rating don’t always work out.
There have been plenty of times where a player with 5-stars comes into a program and ends up never seeing the field in any notable capacity, but yet a 3-star ends up being drafted.
Star-ratings do, however, set a barometer in many cases for what we can expect from players and their overall natural talent.
We’ve seen 5-stars come into the Clemson football program and be dominant basically from the start. Others have taken time to develop.
Certainly, the coaching staff has done an excellent job at recruiting at a high level, but also developing the players when they get on campus. Dabo Swinney doesn’t just look at the talent-side of a prospect, but also his character and work ethic. The coaching staff works to find guys that fit the culture of the program and that’s what has made the Tiger so successful over the years.
With all of that being said, star-ratings are still a fun part of following a program. Everyone keeps their eyes out for 5-star and 4-star prospects that are interested in their school. They make comparisons about what the player could turn into once he is on campus. It’s one of the joys of being a College Football fan.
As we head into the end of summer, here’s a look at the highest-rated signee at every position all-time for the Clemson football program. These numbers come from the 247 Sports’ Composite ratings (since 2000).
For this exercise, we did not include commitments in the 2020 Clemson football recruiting class. These are only players that have enrolled on campus or signed or letter of intent for the Tigers.
