Defensive Backs

Cornerback: Mackensie Alexander

  • Bashaud Breeland

Cornerback: Trayvon Mullen

  • Cordrea Tankersley

Safety: DeAndre McDaniel

  • Jonathan Meeks

Safety: Jayron Kearse

  • Michael Hamlin

The defensive backfield for Clemson’s all-time Dabo Swinney team certainly has some depth.

Mackensie Alexander and Trayvon Mullen on the field at the same time would be extremely tough for opposing wide receivers to deal with. Alexander was potentially the best cover cornerback in the history of the program.

DeAndre McDaniel is a no-doubter in terms of that safety position. Jayron Kearse, talent-wise, would certainly be the other guy, but many believe that he had one eye set on the NFL during that 2015 season that saw the Tigers lose in the National Championship game. Even so, Kearse certainly proved that he could play the position and was a dominant force when he wanted to be.
