The Clemson football team absolutely dominated the 2019 preseason All-ACC team. Could the Tigers beat a combined all-star ACC squad?

The 2019 Clemson football team is one of the most talented squads in the country.

Despite the Tigers losing several key starters off of last year’s defense, they return basically the entire offense and have plenty of promising prospects ready to contribute.

The amount of talent certainly was on display Tuesday afternoon when the preseason All-ACC team was revealed. Clemson football has 13 selections, including eight on offense, out of the 27 overall selections.

A question arose on Twitter following the unveiling of the team and it certainly posed some intrigue. Could Clemson football beat a combined all-star ACC squad? (Assuming the squad was a cohesive unit and they practiced together, etc.)

If you’re talking about an all-star team featuring ACC players outside of Clemson, it would be likely that Bryce Perkins (UVA) is the quarterback and that AJ Dillon (Boston College) is the primary running back with Cam Akers (FSU) as a solid backup.

That backfield would certainly be formidable against the Tigers’ front line and would probably one of the best in the country had they teamed up. At wide receiver, you’re likely looking at Tamorrion Terry (FSU), Damon Hazelton (VT) and Sean Riley (Syracuse) and a pretty solid offensive line led by guys like Becton (Louisville), Donaldson (Miami) and Morrissey (Pitt).

Defensively, Alton Robinson (DE, Syracuse), Kendall Coleman (DE, Syracuse), Bryce Hall (DB, Virginia), Jonathan Garvin (LB, Miami) and several others would likely lead the way.

In the end, it’d probably be a nice battle. The all-stars could likely post more depth since there are more players to choose from, but the Tigers would still have some advantages when it came to the top-end of the roster.

Next. Isaiah Simmons is the next elite hybrid LB. dark

I wouldn’t bet against Trevor Lawrence and that offense, but it’s certainly a fun thing to think about here in the midst of summer.
