Paul Finebaum doubled down on his belief that Clemson football apparently just got lucky, catching Alabama at the right time in the National Championship.

It’s amazing that Paul Finebaum can go on one show and say that the Clemson football program is the best in the nation and then turn around and make a point that would completely diminish that thought.

Finebaum literally went on his show last week and said that Trevor Lawrence was an extremely talented quarterback and that Clemson football was the premiere program in the nation.

Well, he still doesn’t believe the Tigers are good enough to beat Alabama.

Though Clemson beat the Crimson Tide 44-16 in the National Championship game, Finebaum said that loss had ‘nothing to do with Clemson’ and that the entire Alabama football program doesn’t care about Clemson or the ACC.

"“Dylan Moses, Nick Saban and the entire Alabama football team doesn’t care about Clemson, doesn’t care about the ACC. They care about what they do. That’s why they are so good year in and year out,” Finebaum said on WJOX 94.5 FM. “Nick Saban preaches ‘You be the best you can be, we will do the best we can and we will normally win.’ That did not happen in that one case and what Saban has preached all season long was simple – ‘You guys didn’t execute and we didn’t do a good enough job in getting you ready.’ It has nothing to do with Clemson.”"

Finebaum doubled down on his comments by saying that if the Tigers and Tide matched up this year he has no doubts that Nick Saban and Alabama will come out on top. I suppose we’re just supposed to forget that he believed Alabama would win in a blowout in the last match up between the two programs.

Finebaum also went on to say that Dylan Moses spent time complimenting Georgia rather than Clemson because he’s worried about the Bulldogs more so than the Tigers.

Thoughts:

It’s amazing the amount of ‘hot takes’ this man puts out. It’s almost as if he’s spewing propaganda for the sake of getting listeners and appeasing to his audience. Oh wait…

The truth is this, Paul: Clemson was better than Alabama and Clemson is still better than Alabama. Though he believes that Alabama doesn’t care about Clemson, it certainly seems like the players an coaches spend a lot of time talking about the Tigers and making excuses for their loss back in January.

You can believe what you want, but Alabama was dismantled by a Tiger team that was just flat out better in every single facet of the game. That National Championship could’ve been played anywhere in the world- or on the moon- and Clemson would’ve won.

Georgia is a talented team, but the last time I checked they lost three games. They got completely thrashed by LSU and then got beat by Texas in a bowl game. Let’s not sit here and pretend that the two programs are on the same level.

Honestly, Finebaum can say whatever he wants. Nick Saban can continue to fuel the fire. It’s only going to Clemson football even more of an edge the next time the two teams play, assuming that Alabama can even get back to the CFB Playoff.
