According to recent reports, Clemson football officials and administration are considering several stadium upgrades including premium east end zone seating.

Clemson football officials and administration are carefully looking at ways to upgrade Death Valley and that may include adding more premium seating to the stadium.

According to a report from The Greenville News’ Manie Robinson, the Tigers are looking for ways to upgrade the stadium while holding the traditions that have made the Clemson football stadium what it is today.

Clemson has spent more than $95 million on stadium improvements from 2004 to 2015, according to the report. Clemson Athletic Director Dan Radakovich said that the Tigers are considering ways to change the stadium without significantly impacting the stadium capacity (81,500) or messing with traditions.

A few ideas, according to Radakovick, include premium seating behind the east end zone, adding suites and clubs, and a new scoreboard.

Breaking it Down…

When looking at this report, it’s clear that officials haven’t come to a conclusion yet on what they are going to do. The most intriguing piece of information is the idea of adding premium seating behind the east end zone.

This is all speculation, but I’d highly doubt that administration would consider getting rid of the hill, but we could see some seating added on the hill or near it at the very least in the coming years. That could present a concern of potentially displacing students as a result.

With attendance seemingly dwindling, the Tigers could take the approach of dropping capacity slightly by adding more premium seating and boxes, like the article mentions.

It will be interesting to see what officials choose to do over the coming years in Death Valley. There are changes that can be made to make the overall experience better for the fan, but only time will tell to say if they are made accordingly.
