University of Miami Athletic Director Blake James decided to take a shot at Clemson football’s new facilities in his latest interview with The Athletic.

Miami Athletic Director Blake James spoke with The Athletic about the university’s latest practice facility, but couldn’t help himself from taking a shot at Clemson football.

James talked about the new facility and explained why the school’s facility isn’t quite as elaborate as some of the other football programs across the nation.

James pointed out that he believes Miami doesn’t needs slides or putt-putt like other schools do to keep the athletes entertained.

Interestingly enough, Clemson has beaten Miami by a combined score of 96-3 in the last two meetings between the two programs. While Clemson football is on top of the CFB world, winning a second National Championship in three years, Miami had a coach surprisingly retire and went 7-6 last year with a 35-3 loss to Wisconsin.

Yes, the Wisconsin team that couldn’t score all season put up 35 on the Hurricanes.

Thoughts:

The real answer as to why Miami’s football facility isn’t as elaborate as Clemson football’s or many other programs around the country is pretty simple: Money.

If Miami had the money to spend to create a nicer facility, they would. If they do have the money and they’re choosing to purposefully downsize, then it just shows that the administration and alumni have no interest in building an elite football program.

Either way, it’s clear that the Hurricanes just aren’t on the same playing field as Clemson and honestly shouldn’t be striving for that goal. James should be more worried about seeing his football program win the ACC Coastal and compete with the likes of Virginia, Virginia Tech and North Carolina.

There’s always a sense of swagger coming out of Miami, but there’s hardly ever a reason for that confidence.

It just seems that program has been in shambles for years and maybe we’re getting a glimpse as to why now. The Athletic Director and administration are more worried about trying to undercut other programs rather than build their own.
