2. Robert Nkemdiche (Class of 2013)

Everyone remembers this decommitment, probably more so than any other one in Clemson football history.

Robert Nkemdiche, the nation’s No. 1 overall player in the class of 2013, was committed to the Tigers until a surprising swerve led to him committing to the Ole Miss Rebels. We would later learn that Ole Miss had been doing all kinds of illegal practices when it came to recruiting under Coach Hugh Freeze.

It was reported that Nkemdiche’s mom felt more comfortable with her child attending Ole Miss rather than Clemson.

He went on to have a decent career with the Rebels, being named to the All-SEC team and a second-team All-American. He was drafted 29th overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Just recently, the Cardinals declined a fifth-year option on his contract. Nkemdiche was a guy that had all the talent in the world, but just never seemed willing to put the work in to reach the next level.
