Over the years, there just haven’t been many decommitments from Clemson football under Dabo Swinney. Here’s the top five, according to ratings.
Since 2012, the Clemson football program has had just 10 decommitments.
When comparing those numbers to the rest of the nation, it’s clear that the Tigers have something special going on up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. For example, Alabama has had 49 decommitments in the same time period. Georgia has had 45 and in-state rival South Carolina has had 35.
Dabo Swinney takes extra precaution to ensure that decommitments aren’t a problem in the Clemson football program.
Instead of handing out scholarship offers, the Tigers are very selective with the prospects they offer. The coaching staff zeroes in on a few recruits at needed positions and fills the class from that perspective instead of just offering a guy with skill. The coaching staff also takes time to develop a relationship with the prospects and sees if a guy is a good fit for the program in terms of academics and character.
All of those things lead to less decommitments and a firmer decision when recruits ultimately choose where they want to go to school.
With that being said, here’s a look at the top five decommitments for Clemson football under Dabo Swinney. These rankings are based of the 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings’ player ratings.
