4. Da’Quan Bowers (2010)

I would imagine that Da’Quan Bowers wasn’t one of the first Clemson football players to come to your mind when you started thinking about the five Tigers to earn this honor.

Though Bowers took a couple of years to develop at the collegiate level, he was absolutely dominant in 2010.

In a year where things didn’t exactly go as planned for Clemson (the Tigers went just 6-7), Bowers was the leader of a really good defense.

He 67 total tackles, including 26 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks. Bowers was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and was given the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, given to the best defensive player in the nation.
