Clemson Football: 5-star QB DJ Uiagalelei impresses at camp
5-star Clemson football QB commit DJ Uiagalelei looked impressive during his days at camp for the Tigers. It’s clear Clemson is getting a special QB.
5-star Clemson football QB commit DJ Uiagalelei is on hand for the Tigers’ second session of camp this week.
Uiagalelei brought with him a host of teammates and has been extremely impressive during his workout sessions at the Clemson football camp.
He committed to the Tigers back in May and has been recruiting several other stars from around the country since making his decision.
One of those stars is at camp this week. 4-star WR EJ Williams made his way to Tiger Town on Wednesday to participate in camp. Williams was originally a Clemson lean, but named Alabama his leader just a couple of weeks ago. Uiagalelei and the rest of those talented prospects in the 2020 class will certainly try to swing Williams in a different direction.
Analysis:
Back to Uiagalelei, when he throws the ball it’s just different. There have been several reports of him impressing the coaches during his workout sessions.
When he throws the ball, it comes out with a great zip and is right on the money. If you look at film, it’s clear to see that he has the arm strength similar to that of Trevor Lawrence.
It will be fun to watch him progress over his senior season and see what he is able to do when he arrives on campus next year.
Uiagalelei will have the opportunity to learn under Lawrence for a season before competing for a starting position as a sophomore or redshirt freshman.
He is rated as the No. 13 overall prospect in the 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings and the No. 1 QB in the nation. Uiagalelei is part of the 2020 Clemson football recruiting class that includes 5-stars DL Bryan Bresee, DE Myles Murphy, RB Demarkcus Bowman, DB Fred Davis and DT Demonte Capehart.
