Clemson football freshmen wide receivers Frank Ladson and Joe Ngata are going to make a major impact for the Tigers in 2019.

The spring game was just one practice in the grand scheme of things, but we got to see all that we needed to do concerning Clemson football freshmen Frank Ladson and Joseph Ngata.

Both Ladson and Ngata were two of the stars of the scrimmage, but it wasn’t just the scrimmage that had people talking.

Throughout the entire spring, the coaching staff raved on how talented both guys were and how they were going to earn playing time right away.

As we look forward to the 2019 Clemson football season, it’s clear that the two freshmen wide receivers- Ladson and Ngata- are going to make an impact in a major way before the season comes to a close.

When you look at the wide receiver room, it’s clear that there’s plenty of talent to go around. The Tigers have the best duo of wide receivers in the country in Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins, who will man the ‘boundary’ and ‘field’ positions.

Currently, it is unknown who will start at the ‘slot’ position. The Tigers have plenty of options, though, with weapons like Derion Kendrick, Diondre Overton, TJ Chase and Cornell Powell in their arsenal.

The expected plan, at least right now, will be for several of the veterans to split time at the slot position while also moving outside at times.

Overton is a guy that could line up at the slot in some situations and then move outside to the boundary when Higgins needs a break or a series off.

However, as the season progresses, I think we’ll begin to see both Ladson and Ngata work into those ‘outside’ roles more and more. Ladson will likely fill in at the ‘field’ position and Ngata will likely be the second guy behind Higgins at the ‘boundary.’

It doesn’t take much work to see how talented both of these guys are going to be. Just put on a little bit of film or go back and watch the spring game and you’ll see the potential they have to be major contributors as freshmen in 2019.
