Dawg Nation’s Mike Griffith doesn’t buy that Clemson football was three touchdowns better than Alabama, he believes quite the opposite.

Dawg Nation’s Mike Griffith went on the Three Man Front Podcast recently and was asked about the Clemson-Alabama National Championship game.

Despite the Tigers winning the game 44-16 as the score would indicate, Griffith said there were many factors that went into the matchup that made the game more favorable for Clemson football.

He noted that the Tigers had one of the best wide receiver units in the nation and that Trevor Lawrence developed into an elite pocket-passer over the course of the season, but that the Alabama football team we saw in the National Championship game was not the same team that played in September in October.

He said that the Tide had been worn down by a vaunted SEC schedule, that they suffered injuries and that there were a several plays in the game that didn’t break their way. Ultimately, Griffith came to the determination that had the game been played in September or October, Alabama would’ve won by three touchdowns.

Reactions:

Honestly, this narrative has been pushed by the national and SEC media for far too long. Instead of just admitting that Clemson football was the better team, they continue to try and find ways to spin it to make Alabama look less bad.

If the game had been played here…If Tua didn’t throw that pick-six…If Alabama didn’t have such a tough SEC schedule…The outcome would’ve been different.

It’s laughable.

Alabama’s schedule wasn’t tough. They won every game by a margin of 30 points or more. If they were worn down, it’s because they weren’t physically fit to begin with. Not because of anything pertaining to their opponents.

In the end, the media will continue to feed this narrative of excuse making because they want to believe that the SEC is better than it actually is and that Alabama wasn’t just dismantled on the national stage, but it doesn’t change the fact of what actually happened. And, there’s no excuse to be made.
