How many more prospects will Clemson football take in the 2020 class as we head into the summer? Here’s a look at the scholarship breakdown.

The 2020 Clemson football recruiting class is currently ranked No. 1 in the country with 17 prospects committed.

Of the prospects, five are 5-stars, 10 are 4-stars and two are 3-stars. Just recently, the Tigers picked up a commitment from 3-star S Tyler Venables.

As we head into the thick of the summer, there’s a chance we see a couple more prospects look to commit to Clemson football.

Here’s a breakdown of the remaining scholarship totals and what positions the Tigers will look to take in the cycle.

2020 Remaining Scholarship Totals:

From the start, we said this class would be somewhere between the 18-23 range in terms of numbers. They’ve got just one more spot if they chose to go with the lower number, but I think with a couple of transfers and expectations of underclassmen leaving early for the NFL Draft, you’ll see the Tigers finish right in that 21-22 range.

That means Clemson has somewhere between 4-5 scholarships remaining.

The Tigers are heavily recruiting 5-star DE Jordan Burch, but it seems that he is leaning towards committing to in-state rival South Carolina.

Clemson will definitely want to take at least one wide receiver, but it’s more likely that they’ll take two. The Tigers want to take a tight end in this class, as well. 5-star TE Arik Gilbert is at the top of their board, but he is a long way out from making a commitment and isn’t considered to be favoring Clemson at this point.

Next. What does 3-star Tyler Venables bring to Clemson?. dark

So, basically, you’ll most likely see this class add two more wide receivers; a tight end (I expect the candidate to emerge later this summer); and then 1-3 more players at the discretion of the staff.
