Several Vegas spreads for the 2019 Clemson football season were released Friday morning. Here’s a look at how the Tigers match up this season.

Golden Nugget released its preseason spreads for several of the top programs from around the country. It’s clear that Vegas loves Clemson football.

In each of the spreads that were listed for the Tigers, Clemson was a double-digit favorite.

Here’s a look at the early spreads for the 2019 Clemson football season.

  • Texas A&M -17.5
  • at Syracuse -18
  • at North Carolina -27
  • Florida State -25
  • at Louisville -32
  • at NC State -24
  • at South Carolina -23.5

Thoughts:

It’s crazy to look and see just how sizeable these spreads truly are. Texas A&M at home is currently a 17.5-point gap.

The Tigers are 20-plus point favorites against North Carolina, Florida State, NC State and South Carolina- three of those games are on the road. At Louisville, Clemson is a 32-point favorite and the Tigers are 18-point favorites on the road at Syracuse.

Though you tend to think that many of these spreads will drop as it gets closer to the season, I’m not sure that we can really expect that. I mean, how many people are going to bet against Dabo Swinney’s program right now?

Perhaps the Texas A&M game, and maybe Syracuse, could have some leaning the other way in terms of the spread. Maybe you see a team emerge during the season that we weren’t expecting.

But, for the most part, it’s just going to be difficult not to take Clemson football even with the sizeable point spreads. Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne, Tee Higgins, Justyn Ross, Isaiah Simmons, AJ Terrell, Xavier Thomas. These are all potential first-team All-Americans.

This team is going to be tough to beat even with the spread in place and they will prove that as the year progresses.
