Clemson Football: 5 Reasons Dabo Swinney deserves a statue immediately
4. He’s developing more than just good football players
While Dabo Swinney is developing plenty of talented football players on the field, he’s developing even greater young men off the field.
If that’s not statue-worthy, I’m not sure what is.
When a high school athlete commits to Clemson, they aren’t just going to get the best coaching in the nation. They’re going to be pushed to become a better person. Swinney encourages players to take their education seriously.
As a result, he makes sure that if a junior decides to leave for the NFL that their scholarship is still available to them if they want to come back to school and finish their education.
Swinney cares more about what his players will do when they leave Clemson- the vast majority becoming professionals in something other than football- rather than how they perform on the field.
