Could freshman Andrew Booth come in and earn a starting position for Clemson football this season? It’s certainly not out of the equation.

Andrew Booth will enroll on campus and join the Clemson football team officially in a little less than two months.

Booth, a 5-star cornerback prospect, will be joining a defensive backfield that is in need of consistent play from the cornerback position.

As we continue our series breaking down each 2019 Clemson football freshman, let’s take a look at Booth.

Talent Analysis:

When you think of Andrew Booth, think of Mackensie Alexander, but maybe with even more athletic traits. Booth is a little bigger than Alexander, but runs just as fast and plays with a physicality needed in the Tiger defensive backfield.

He’s the best pure-coverage cornerback that I’ve seen in quite some time and he plays with a chip on his shoulder, very similar to Alexander.

Booth is able to provide coverage, not just through his athleticism but with his physicality. He isn’t afraid to come up in press coverage and just doesn’t get burnt all that often.

He possesses everything that you want to see at the cornerback position. He’s able to cover his man at an elite level, provide physicality and set a hard edge.

Immediate Impact?

Booth is going to play during his freshman season. He’s going to compete with the likes of Derion Kendrick and Kyler McMichael, specifically, and there’s a good chance he comes out on top when it’s all said and done.

It’s not just hype with Booth. He truly is a gifted athlete and cornerback. In my opinion, he will be one of the first corners taken in the NFL Draft three years from now, he’s just that talented. That talent, skill and athleticism will be noticed right away by Tiger nation.
