Clemson Football: Where do the Tigers stand with 5-star WR Julian Fleming?
5-star Clemson football target Julian Fleming announced that he will make his decision later this month. Where do the Tigers stand with the talented WR?
Atop many wish lists for the 2020 Clemson football recruiting class is 5-star WR Julian Fleming.
Fleming, the top wide receiver in the country, announced that he will make his decision Friday, May 31. It’s clear that the Tigers would love to see him commit and join what has already proven to be an elite class.
5-star QB DJ Uiagalelei, who committed to Clemson football last week, is recruiting Fleming hard to come down to Tiger Town.
Fleming has a top-five of Ohio State, Penn State, Georgia, Alabama and Clemson.
So where do the Tigers stand with the talented wide receiver?
Analysis:
If I were to guess right now, I’d say that this is a battle between Ohio State and Penn State.
If Fleming were to choose a school other than one of those two, I do believe that Clemson would be that choice. Though he took official visits to Alabama and Georgia this spring, it doesn’t seem that the Crimson Tide or Bulldogs are really in position to land his services.
For Clemson to feel better about its chances, you probably wanted to see the recruitment go a little longer and perhaps get Fleming on campus a time or two more. Fleming made an unofficial visit to Clemson in March.
The Tigers, however, do have two major draws working in their favor: 1. Clemson is WRU. 2. This 2020 class is star-studded.
Fleming knows he is going to be featured and have a chance to play no matter where he goes. However, if he went to Clemson, he’d be playing for a program that has put tons of wide receivers in the league over the past few years. In addition, the hype of this 2020 recruiting class is real. It certainly would be tough to turn down a chance to play with a class that features 5-star RB Demarkcus Bowman, talented offensive linemen and the top quarterback in the country in DJ Uiagalelei.
