5-star Clemson football commit DJ Uiagalelei was on hand for The Nike Opening in Oakland, CA this past weekend and it’s clear that he’s a special talent.

5-star Clemson football commit DJ Uiagalelei is expected to be the heir to the starting quarterback position when Trevor Lawrence departs from the program in a couple of years.

Uiagalelei was on hand for The Nike Opening in Oakland, CA this past weekend and he posted some impressive numbers. He came away with an overall rating of 109.08, which is extremely impressive for a pass-first style quarterback, but what was more intriguing was his measurables.

Uiagalelei came in at 6-foot-4.5 and weighed 246 pounds. Let the Daunte Culpepper comparisons continue.

Analysis:

Uiagalelei has a cannon for an arm. He can legitimately throw the ball 80-plus yards. His arm talent may actually be better than Trevor Lawrence, and that is saying something considering Lawrence is the best quarterback in all of College Football.

Uiagalelei is an absolute monster. He is big and strong, but has deceptive quickness and athleticism.

As we’ve said before in analysis, he’s almost like the best of all the worlds when it comes to Clemson football quarterbacks. He has athleticism, maybe not on the same level of Deshaun Watson but pretty close.

He can sling the ball around like Trevor Lawrence, and he is built like a tank like Tajh Boyd. The difference, though, is that Boyd was four inches shorter than Uiagalelei.

This kid is a special talent and it doesn’t take a professional analyst to realize that. Uiagalelei was invited to the Elite 11 Finals, where he’ll compete against some of the top quarterback prospects from around the country.

Next. Jaelyn Lay will be relied upon heavily in 2019. dark

It’ll be interesting to watch how he progresses over the course of his senior season and what he is able to accomplish before arriving in Clemson next January.
