The 2020 Clemson football recruiting class is already one of the best in the history of CFB. How many scholarships remain for the cycle?

The Clemson football program has been trending upwards for quite some time.

The Tigers haven’t had too many top-five classes and yet still have won two National Championships and competed in four CFB Playoffs.

Now, Clemson football is set to have a top-three class in 2020 and it could potentially finish as the top class in the country.

The Tigers are currently ranked No. 1 in the nation according to the 247 Sports’ Composite Team Rankings, with 273.62 points and an average of 95.72. That is good enough for nearly 20 points more than LSU, who is ranked No. 2, and the average comes out to two points more than what the SEC Tigers currently possess.

Clemson currently has 14 commitments- four 5-stars and 10 4-stars- in the 2020 class.

How many scholarships remain? Here’s a breakdown of what’s left for the Tigers in the 2020 recruiting cycle.

2020 Remaining Scholarships:

The Tigers are expected to take anywhere between 17-22 players in this 2020 class. Many experts believe that they’ll take 20, while others think 18 is the number.

Clemson has 13 scholarship seniors and is expected to lose somewhere between 4-6 juniors to the NFL Draft after this season. That doesn’t count attrition due to transfers, which is certainly a possibility. With those numbers, the Tigers would take somewhere between 17-19 players in this cycle.

If that’s the case, you’re looking at about 3-6 openings remaining in this class.

The coaching staff could play around with the scholarship numbers, and they certainly have a better idea of what to expect, but that’s about what to expect going forward.

Remaining Targets:

Clemson will take one more running back in this cycle. Most likely, it will be either 4-star Daniyel Ngata, 4-star Jaylan Knighton, 3-star Kobe Pryor or 5-star Zachary Evans, if he showed interest down the road.

The Tigers are also targeting 5-star DE Myles Murphy, 5-star WR Julian Fleming, 4-star WR EJ Williams and 5-star DE Jordan Burch.

Clemson will also want one more linebacker, most likely, in this cycle.
