Clemson Football: Who are the Tigers targeting at RB in the 2020 cycle?
Clemson football got its top prospect at running back when 5-star Demarkcus Bowman committed earlier. Who else is being targeted by the Tigers?
The top prospect on Clemson football’s big board at running back for the 2020 class was 5-star Demarkcus Bowman.
Bowman, a native of Lakeland, Florida, was expected to attend the University of Florida according to the vast majority of analysts, but Clemson got in early on his recruitment and made a big impression.
Following Clemson football’s Junior Day in January, Bowman said that the Tigers were the favorites to win his services. He went on to visit Tiger Town a couple more times before officially committing last Friday.
With Bowman committed, Clemson will be looking to take one more running back in the 2020 class. The Tigers will have to replace Tavien Feaster and, most likely, Travis Etienne on the running back depth chart following this season.
Who is left on the Tigers’ big board at running back?
2020 Running Back Big Board:
There are four running backs that have been linked to Clemson football at times during the recruiting process: 3-star Kobe Pryor, 4-star Jaylan Knighton, 4-star Daniyel Ngata and 5-star Zachary Evans.
Pryor, Knighton and Ngata have all expressed high interest in Clemson. Pryor said that he will be announcing his decision later this month and many believe that the Tigers could be his destination.
Though Pryor is a solid option, I think the Tigers are waiting to see about Ngata and Evans. Though Ngata hasn’t gotten the publicity, he named Clemson his leader and it seems that he is really interested in coming to Tiger Town with his brother, Joe Ngata.
It seems that the recruitment of Knighton has cooled off, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t pick up this summer.
Obviously, the Tigers would love to get 5-star Zachary Evans, who is the No. 1 running back in the nation, but there is a low percentage of them landing the talented back. He is believed to be favoring Texas at this point and I’m not sure that the coaching staff wants to wait on his recruitment, which will likely continue through the rest of this calendar year.
Summarizing the situation:
You’ve got Kobe Pryor- a high 3-star- that will be making his decision this month; You’ve got 4-stars Daniyel Ngata and Jaylan Knighton, who have both expressed high interest in Clemson, but are still enjoying the recruitment process and aren’t planning to make a decision soon; and you’ve got 5-star Zachary Evans, who is still early in his recruitment.
