Clemson Football: Gamecock fans upset about Tigers’ elite recruiting
With the elite amount of success coming out of the Clemson football program, jealousy and a sense of hopelessness may be starting to set in for fans in Columbia.
The Clemson football program has transcended to heights never reached before.
The Tigers have won two of the last three National Championships and are on pace to win quite a few more in the future.
Dabo Swinney has built the program from the ground up, and is now reaping the benefits of his success with the largest contract in all of College Football.
With the Tigers’ success comes a lot of jealously and, perhaps a sense of hopelessness, for South Carolina Gamecock fans. And, lately, it’s becoming more and more prevalent.
A simple Twitter search of Clemson will reveal hundreds of examples of what I’m talking about. There are Gamecock fans blaming Clemson’s ACC schedule as the reason why the program has been built so successfully. Little do they understand that the Tigers actually play their program every single season. Oh, and the SEC isn’t really that vaunted of a conference anymore considering the amount of average programs the conference possesses.
Others, obviously, want to hold out for the cheating angle.
South Carolina fans all across the state are hinging their hopes on Clemson being busted for cheating. That’s the only hope they can really cling to right now.
Why?
Because the Tigers are going to continue to be one of the top programs in the nation and South Carolina has to deal with the success year after year after year. Even as the Gamecocks progress, they know they have no chance of slowing Clemson down.
The Tigers are just on another level as their in-state rival and it’s going to continue to be that way for years to come.
Hopelessness is starting to set in among the Gamecock fan base, and because of that, they are turning to anything and everything that could potentially bring down Clemson football.
