There are several 2019 Clemson football freshmen that will be able to make an impact this season. Wide Receiver Frank Ladson certainly fits the bill.
Over the course of the next couple of months, we will give you our analysis of every single Clemson football freshman for the 2019 season.
We’ll take a look at their ability to make an impact as a freshman, as well as their long-term potential and where we see them panning out for the Tigers.
We begin our series with a look at WR Frank Ladson.
Ladson, who will wear No. 2 during his Clemson football career, is an early enrollee. Tiger fans got to see a glimpse of what he is capable of during the annual Orange & White game a little more than a month ago in Death Valley.
Talent Analysis:
Ladson is, without a doubt, a talented individual who is going to be a major player for Clemson football in the coming years.
He is the type of wide receiver that you run that jet sweep play with just to get the ball in his hands.
Ladson projects as the ‘field’ wide receiver position, which is where we saw guys like Artavis Scott, Ray-Ray McCloud and Amari Rodgers- pre-injury- excel.
He has the capability of developing into a first-round prospect at wide receiver. Ladson is able to go up and high point the ball on fade routes, as well as excel in complex routes. He can create separation between him and the cornerback and that will lead to him getting targeted quite a bit.
Immediate Impact?
Ladson is going to avoid a redshirt this season and play a good bit, in my opinion.
The Tigers have Tee Higgins, Justyn Ross, Diondre Overton and several other veterans that will provide begin ahead of Ladson on the depth chart, but it won’t be long before he ascends into the two-deep and earns playing time as a freshman, especially if Derion Kendrick plays defense on a part-time basis this season.
