Clemson Football: Trevor Lawrence reaches out to DJ Uiagalelei

Clemson football quarterback Trevor Lawrence reached out to Tiger commit DJ Uiagalelei on Twitter following his announcement Sunday afternoon.

Clemson football quarterback Trevor Lawrence was one of many Tigers to react to the announcement made by 5-star QB DJ Uiagalelei Sunday afternoon.

Uiagalelei announced his commitment to Clemson over Oregon in a video that was released precisely at 3 p.m.

Following the announcement, Trevor Lawrence reached out to Uiagalelei to congratulate him on his decision.

Thoughts:

It’s great to see Clemson football players excited about the building of the program. Trevor Lawrence reaching out to Uiagalelei shows his leadership potential and is going to make things a lot easier when Uiagalelei arrives on campus next year.

Clemson’s quarterback room is pretty much set for the next few seasons.

Trevor Lawrence has three years of eligibility remaining, but will most likely leave after his junior season. Uiagalelei is expected to take over after that.

That would put him starting at QB his sophomore season- or redshirt freshman season if the Tigers chose to go that route.

When I look at Uiagalelei, I would venture to say that he actually may have a stronger arm than Trevor Lawrence. He can throw the ball 80-plus yards legitimately and has great touch, as well.

His stature will allow him to take some big hits, but also run the ball effectively at the next level and I believe you’re going to see a special talent take over following Trevor Lawrence’s run. The Clemson football coaching staff has continued to hit on its quarterbacks.

First, the Tigers had Deshaun Watson. Then it transitioned to Trevor Lawrence. After Lawrence, the Tigers will transition to Uiagalelei and it seems that the ROY bus that Dabo Swinney has built over the past decade is just going to keep on rolling with no appearance of slowing down anytime soon.
