The 2020 Clemson football recruiting class could get exponentially better Sunday when 5-star QB DJ Uiagalelei announces his college decision.

5-star Clemson football target DJ Uiagalelei is set to make a decision.

The talented quarterback prospect out of Bellflower, California announced that he will make his decision Sunday, May 5 as part of his mother’s birthday celebration.

He is down to a top-three of Clemson, Oregon and Mt. Sac. Mt. Sac is a tribute to family members, but the real battle is between the Tigers and the Ducks.

Clemson holds the vast majority of crystal ball predictions on the 247 Sports network, but Oregon has had some traction as of late.

Uiagalelei made an extended visit to Clemson back in April during the Tigers’ annual spring game. He and several family members took in Tiger Town from Wednesday to Sunday before flying back across the country.

A couple of weeks ago, Uiagalelei had an official visit to Oregon and he came away extremely impressed with the entire program.

With that being said, was the Oregon visit enough to swing him away from Clemson?

A Look into the Crystal Ball:

Uiagalelei has kept his recruitment close to the vest as far as how he’s feeling. There are pros and cons to both programs.

For Clemson, the major cons would be that the school is across the nation from his family and that he wouldn’t be able to start right away with Trevor Lawrence already on campus. That has been the big recruiting pitch out of Oregon.

However, I think that pitch won’t be strong enough when he thinks about the ‘pros’ that Clemson offers. It’s a family atmosphere with world-class coaches. He’s going to be pushed to get an education and knows that he’ll always have a scholarship to come back and finish his degree if he does choose to leave for the NFL after three years.

Uiagalelei also knows that if he comes to Clemson, he’ll have a chance to compete in the CFB Playoff and perhaps win a National Championship or two before it’s all said and done.

Our crystal ball is for the Tigers. I think the culture of Clemson football speaks volumes and that’s what ultimately plays the difference in his recruitment.
