Clemson football running back Lyn-J Dixon is going to garner a ton of playing time in 2019 following the transfer announcement of Tavien Feaster.

It was reported last week that Tavien Feaster would be entering the transfer portal and most likely leaving the Clemson football program.

Feaster is set to graduate in August and is looking to spend his final year of eligibility at a place where he can get more playing time, according to reports.

Feaster was set to be the No. 2 guy behind Travis Etienne, but there was a lot of talk that he may very well be the No. 3 guy because of the emergence of sophomore Lyn-J Dixon.

If Feaster chose to stay, he would certainly get playing time and would most likely be the first guy off the sideline all season because of Dabo Swinney’s loyalty to veterans. Feaster would’ve gotten his fair share of carries, for sure.

With him most likely out of the running back picture, though, sophomore Lyn-J Dixon will be the second-string option behind Etienne.

Dixon was challenging Feaster for the second-spot already and is an explosive option at running back. He doesn’t have the experience that the senior would’ve brought to the backfield, but he’s got all the traits needed to be an explosive threat for the Tigers.

As a matter of fact, I would argue that Etienne and Dixon could become the best 1-2 punch in the nation this season.

When you have a hard runner like Etienne as your starter, mixing in Dixon could be lethal for opposing defenses. Now, if the Tigers run the ball 35 times in a game, the carries will be more readily available for Dixon to have a big season.

Right now, if you had 35 rushes in a game, I’d expect Etienne to take around 20 of those. Dixon could get about 10 and then you’d still have five for guys like Darien Rencher, Chez Mellusi and Michel Dukes to get involved in the rushing attack.

Dixon is going to step up big time in 2019 and his explosiveness is going to be on display early and often in the coming season.
