5-star Clemson football target DJ Uiagalelei has set his decision date. Will it be the Tigers or the Oregon Ducks that win his services?

One of the top targets in the 2020 Clemson football recruiting cycle is 5-star QB DJ Uiagalelei.

On Wednesday, Uiagalelei officially announced on Twitter that he would be making his decision Sunday, May 5, on his mother’s birthday.

Uiagalelei has a top-three of Clemson, Oregon and Mt. Sac- a local school. Of course, the recruiting battle is really believed to be between the Tigers and the Ducks.

This past month has been a big one for Uiagalelei and his family.

Early in April, he and many family members made the trip across the country to Tiger Town for the Clemson football spring game. They arrived Wednesday evening and stayed until Sunday. The extended trip allowed Uiagalelei’s mother to see the campus and for him to get a feel for what life would be like living in Clemson.

Following the visit [and many prior to the visit], the vast majority of analysts put in their crystal balls for Uiagalelei and projected him heading to Clemson. Currently, the crystal ball maintains an 87 percent chance that the Tigers land the talented quarterback.

Later in April, Uiagalelei took a visit to Oregon. The Ducks pulled out all the stops on the official visit and made an impression, vaulting themselves at least back in the conversation. Uiagalelei has since kept his decision close to the vest and hasn’t revealed much about what he is thinking or how he is ranking schools. In interviews, he has been complimentary of Oregon and likes a lot of things about the Duck program.

On Monday, Clemson football coaches visited Uiagalelei in California. There haven’t been any returns yet on how that visit went or what the vibe was as they headed out of California.

Right now, I think the Tigers feel good about their chances of landing Uiagalelei, but it’s not as sure of a thing as it once was. It will be interesting to see what he chooses when Sunday arrives.
