Clemson Football: 5-star DJ Uiagalelei to make ‘major announcement’ today
5-star Clemson football target DJ Uiagalelei will make a major announcement today, according to his Twitter page.
The Clemson football program is locked in a major recruiting battle with the Oregon Ducks as we head into the month of May.
Both the Tigers and the Ducks are heavily entrenched in trying to win the services of 5-star QB DJ Uiagalelei. Uiagalelei took an extended visit to Clemson earlier in April during the week of the spring game.
He was in town from Wednesday until Sunday and had a great visit.
Uiagalelei then went on his already-scheduled official visit to Oregon a few weeks later and Duck reporters have been raving about the time he had. Uiagalelei got the opportunity to meet former Oregon QBs Marcus Mariota and Jeremiah Masoli, who were two of his favorite college football players.
The Ducks pulled out all the stops and certainly have muddied the waters a bit heading into his decision month.
A couple of Clemson football coaches visited Uiagalelei in California Monday and the 5-star QB prospect took to Twitter to tell the public that he would have a “major announcement” Wednesday.

Uiagalelei will be announcing his decision date today. Unless there’s a big surprise, we won’t get a decision from the 5-star prospect today, but that could be coming down the pipeline soon.
It was originally reported that he was going to announce on Sunday, May 5- his mother’s birthday- but plans seemingly have changed.
Uiagalelei is the nation’s No. 1 quarterback and is thought to be a lean towards Clemson. The Tigers currently have 86 percent of the crystal ball predictions, according to 247 Sports.

It will be interesting to see what he ultimately decides, but the momentum seemingly is swinging towards the Ducks.
What you hope for as a Clemson football fan is that the coaches were able to visit with Uiagalelei on Monday and firm up things with his standing.
