The Clemson football faithful know how to get Memorial Stadium rocking. That’s why Death Valley was ranked the toughest place to play.

Beating Clemson football is tough enough.

Having to come to Death Valley in front of a sold out, energized crowd makes it nearly impossible. During my time covering Clemson football, some of the best moments have been taking in the crowd and atmosphere in Death Valley and the sight of tailgaters before the game.

The atmosphere is electric, whether the Tigers are playing a lower-tier team like Furman at noon or a top-10 opponent at night.

Of course, the night atmosphere always has a little more juice around it, but playing Clemson at home at any time is a tough task for an opposing program.

247 Sports ranked the toughest places to play in College Football around the nation. Clemson Memorial Stadium, also known as Death Valley, came in at No. 1.

Here’s a look at the top-five toughest places to play, according to the rankings from 247 Sports:

  1. Clemson (Memorial Stadium)
  2. Georgia (Sanford Stadium)
  3. LSU (Tiger Stadium)
  4. Penn State (Beaver Stadium)
  5. Texas A&M (Kyle Field)

This list sounds about right to me. If you’ve ever been to Athens, you know that it can be a hostile environment (honestly more than just football-wise).

LSU has always been known as an electric atmosphere and Clemson football fans will get to experience that atmosphere firsthand when the Tigers travel to Baton Rouge in 2026.

Next. SEC media tries, but can't discredit Clemson. dark

Penn State has known to be an electric place to visit, especially during the white-out and Texas A&M was certainly a difficult atmosphere for Clemson to play in last season when the Tigers were still figuring out the quarterback situation.

What do you think, Clemson football fans? How would you rank the stadiums if you were picking five from across the nation? Comment below.
