Clemson Football: Albert Huggins will be a late-round gem
Former Clemson football defensive tackle Albert Huggins won’t be one of the first players selected, but he will develop into a solid NFL player.
Clemson football defensive tackle Albert Huggins didn’t start a ton of games for the Tigers, but he will still be a hefty player in the NFL Draft.
Though Huggins won’t be drafted in the first few rounds of the 2019 NFL Draft, you will hear the talented defensive lineman’s name called before everything comes to a close this weekend.
Huggins is projected to be drafted in the 6-7th round and, in my opinion, he’s going to be a late-round gem.
Though Huggins isn’t the flashy defensive tackle type, he’s going to find a home in the NFL. His strength, football IQ and overall power is just too much for a team not to take a chance on.
Huggins currently has an NFL Draft grade of 5.22, which means that most analysts believe he has the potential to have staying power as a backup and special teams player in the NFL.
I tend to agree, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Huggins eventually worked his way into a starting role with a team at some point.
He is a powerful run-stopper and does a really good job against rushes. He’s also got some deceptive athleticism- not necessarily in speed, but how he moves- that could translate well at the next level.
Huggins will need to work on his quickness off the snap, as well as his hand technique, range and free-up moves, but the potential when it comes to his pure power is just off the charts.
A team is going to have a field day with their late-round draft pick in Albert Huggins. That pure power will be on display early and often for the former Tiger and he will prove to be a gem in the late rounds.
