Clemson Football: Did Alabama lie about its spring game attendance?

The 2019 Clemson football spring game featured an announced attendance of 60,000 people. The next week, Alabama conveniently had just a few more than that.

Clemson football announced a new record for spring game attendance a couple of Saturdays ago with 60,000 reported in Death Valley.

The entire lower bowl was filled at Clemson Memorial Stadium and many fans made their way up to the upper deck.

Interestingly enough, a week later Alabama had its annual “A-Day” spring game. Though the crowd in Bryant-Denny Stadium looked underwhelming, the Crimson Tide announced a crowd of 62,219.

That number was conveniently 2,000 more than Clemson’s spring game and 1,000 more than Ohio State’s spring game (an announced attendance of 61,000).

I understand that Bryant-Denny holds around 100,000, but if you look at the pictures of the crowd during the scrimmage, there’s no way in the world that there were 60,000 on hand for the spring game.

Could it be that the Crimson Tide were just looking for a way to stay up on the competition?

Are they looking for any kind of possible edge to have over Clemson football?

It’s certain that the Alabama fans aren’t buying the attendance numbers.

I’m sure it’s just coincidence that the Crimson Tide numbers are just a hair higher than the two biggest programs of competition outside of the SEC.

Clemson defeated Alabama 44-16 in the National Championship back in January. Though it was a thrashing, there have been a ton of excuses made for the Crimson Tide attempting to belittle the Tigers’ victory by Tide players and national analysts, alike.
