9. Shaq Smith

Shaq Smith was a highly-touted recruit coming into the Clemson football program several years ago.

Unfortunately, Smith hadn’t lived up to the bill in his first few seasons. He redshirted in 2016 and then spent most of his time on special teams and in a reserve role in both 2017 and 2018.

That’s coming to a head this year, though.

Smith is expected to be a starter at linebacker in 2019 and he had a great spring. Smith wasn’t just a good performer, he proved to be a leader as the camp progressed.

All of that bodes well for the Tigers, who are looking to replace two starters at linebacker.
