When you talk about All-American caliber players, Clemson football has you covered. How many will the Tigers have on their 2019 roster?

Being named an All-American is a prestigious honor.

Over the existence of the Clemson football program, less than 100 Tigers have been named an All-American.

Though it’s certainly a rarity over the course of Clemson football history, the Tigers have recently changed that narrative with elite recruiting and player development.

As we head into the 2019 season, there’s a shot that this Tiger team has the most All-Americans ever assembled on one team in program history.

Let’s take a look at just how many players have a shot at becoming All-Americans this season.

How many All-Americans in 2019?

Offensively, the Tigers have several guys that will vie for the honor. Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne, Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins are almost all locks to be on an All-American team. I have a feeling that Lawrence, Etienne and one of the wide receivers could potentially be named first-team All-Americans.

After those four, Jackson Carman strikes me as a guy that could emerge as an All-American with a big year at left tackle. You also could look at a player like Tremayne Anchrum or John Simpson if they continue to develop on that offensive line.

Defensively, Isaiah Simmons and AJ Terrell should both be mentioned on the vast majority of preseason All-American lists in some capacity.

By the end of the season, I think we see a few more players emerge for that honor, none bigger than Xavier Thomas.

I think Thomas has a chance to be the best pass-rusher in the nation this season. If he performs up to his potential, there’s no reason to think that the sophomore won’t be named an All-American.

Others that could potentially emerge as candidates include K’Von Wallace and Derion Kendrick (At CB or WR).

Joseph Ngata, Frank Ladson, Tyler Davis, Sheridan Jones, Andrew Booth and Jaelyn Lay could all vie for freshman All-American honors, as well.
