247 Sports released its early bowl projections for the 2019 season and there are some familiar faces, including Clemson football in the CFB Playoff.
The 2019 Clemson football team is expected to be one of the favorites to win the National Championship.
The Tigers, coming off a perfect 15-0 season that saw a National Title and ACC Championship, are certainly favorites to get back with the talent and experience that they return.
Even though Clemson football lost a ton of talent off of the defense- including historically great players like Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence and Clelin Ferrell- there are still plenty of athletes that are capable of competing at a high level.
247 Sports released its way-too-early spring bowl projections for the 2019 season. The organization had Clemson in the CFB Playoff. Here’s a look at the projected playoff, as well as some notable bowl matchups from the list.
CFB Playoff:
- (1) Clemson vs. (4) Georgia (Chick-fil-A Bowl)
- (2) Alabama vs. (3) Oklahoma (Fiesta Bowl)
The publication has the Tigers and Bulldogs matching up in the first round of the CFB Playoff in the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia. What a sight that would be.
You’d be talking about a situation where fan bases would be split exactly 50/50 and the tickets would sell out within minutes of the announced matchup.
Alabama-Oklahoma for a second year wouldn’t get near the ratings, in my opinion, but still would be a great storyline with Jalen Hurts matching up against his former team.
247 Sports has Clemson and Alabama advancing to the National Championship game (New Orleans, LA), which would make for the fourth time the two programs would have matched up in the National Championship in the last five years.
Other notable bowl matchups:
- Cotton Bowl: Notre Dame vs. UCF
- Orange Bowl: Miami vs. Michigan
- Rose Bowl: Ohio State vs. Oregon
- Sugar Bowl: Texas vs. Florida
