Clemson Football: Could the Tigers swing 5-star DE Myles Murphy?
Could Clemson football gain a commitment from 5-star DE Myles Murphy? The Tigers are certainly in good position for the talented prospect.
The 2020 Clemson football recruiting class is shaping up to be one of the best in school history.
The Tigers have already garnered commitments from nine 4-stars, including five offensive linemen and two defensive tackles.
They will be turning their attention to some of the top prospects on their board and that includes three 5-star defensive ends in Bryan Bresee, Jordan Burch and Myles Murphy.
Murphy was on location for The Opening Regionals in Atlanta this past weekend and spoke with Bud Elliott of SB Nation Recruiting. In the interview, he said that Clemson and Auburn were his two favorites at this point, but that didn’t rule out other schools.
Previously, it was believed that Georgia was his favorite, with Auburn behind the Bulldogs and Clemson third on the list.
After a visit back in January to Clemson, though, the Tigers are seemingly the favorites to win his service. 247 Sports’ crystal ball, which use to lean heavily to Georgia, now has Clemson with a 67 percent chance to win his services with six crystal ball predictions in.
Murphy has a great relationship with Clemson football defensive end coach Lemanski Hall.
"“That would be my position coach when— if I go there,” Murphy told Elliott. “He’s a down-to-earth man. It’s not talking football all the time. He asks about my family, how my dad’s doing, how my brother is doing off at college.”"
Murphy is expected to be back on campus this weekend and is really looking at academics with Clemson. He is interested in the Engineering Program.
When you read the interview he did with Elliott, I think Murphy would be a great fit in the culture of Clemson football. He is very interested in academics and wants to take his official visits and then commit to a school he is 100 percent satisfied with.
This would be a great pickup for the Tigers, not just on the football field, but in the program as Dabo Swinney attempts to continue building the program.
