Clemson football freshmen wide receivers Frank Ladson and Joe Ngata are impressing the coaching staff and, most likely, earning playing time along the way.

Clemson football is no stranger to having talented freshmen come in and make immediate impacts at wide receiver.

From Sammy Watkins to Artavis Scott to Deon Cain to Tee Higgins to Justyn Ross, the Tigers have had a fair share of receivers play significant snaps as freshmen over the last decade.

The Tigers have two more freshmen wide receivers that could fall into that category.

From all accounts through spring practice, both Frank Ladson and Joe Ngata- freshmen early enrollees- are standing out going through drills and scrimmages.

Neither one of those guys came to the Clemson football program to sit on the bench. They are here to play and impressing the coach as a result.

Though the Tigers have several talented veteran receivers in Justyn Ross, Tee Higgins, Diondre Overton, Cornell Powell, TJ Chase and Derion Kendrick, both Ladson and Ngata are going to get on the field.

With the most likely absence of Amari Rodgers for quite some time in the 2019 season, that could really open up the hole for the two freshmen wide receivers to find themselves on the two-deep. There’s plenty of talent in that wide receiver core, but I do believe that these two freshmen are special.

Ngata comes in at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds. He has a big, athletic body that can go up and get the ball, as well as run complex routes to break free from the defensive back.

Ladson is a play-maker that will be another threat in the vertical passing game. You could see him fill in behind Tee Higgins at that boundary spot or even behind Justyn Ross at the field position depending on how the coaches decide to use him.

In the end, I think Clemson football fans are going to be very pleased with what they see out of both Ngata and Ladson. They have the talent to be two more elite wide receivers to add to the fold and I think we’ll see flashes of that this season.
