5. How do the specialists perform?

Now, here’s one area that’s easy to judge.

While you may not be able to teach proper mechanics or form, everyone can pretty much tell whether or not a kicker or punter is having success.

Does the kicker make or miss the field goal? Does the punter get good distance and hang time on his punt? These are questions that the Tigers, especially, will be looking to get answered in 2019.

Will Spiers needs to improve after a less-than-stellar year as the punter in 2018. He had a good performance in the National Championship game and now has competition in Aidan Swanson to push him to get better.

BT Potter is the expected starter at kicker, but Dabo Swinney says he has struggled with accuracy and consistency at times. Potter has the power to make the long kicks, but has to remain focused and show that he can consistently put the ball through the uprights.
