Clemson Football: Mark Fields one of the biggest winners of the 2019 NFL Combine
Former Clemson football cornerback Mark Fields was easily one of the biggest winner of the 2019 NFL Combine, which featured some of the top draft prospects.
Former Clemson football cornerback Mark Fields has come alive over the last few months.
After inconsistent play and performance for part of college, Fields had a solid senior season that was capped with a dominant performance against Alabama in the National Championship game where he saw extended playing time.
That performance may very well have earned him an invitation to the 2019 NFL Combine.
Fields was one of the top performers of the entire combine, running a 4.37 40-yard dash and pushing 18 reps on the bench, which was among the best as far as cornerbacks are concerned.

When you talk about a guy that has absolutely shocked a lot of people, that’s Mark Fields. Fields wasn’t even in many analyst’s mock drafts a few months ago.
Heading into the CFB Playoff, Fields was considered a late rounder (6th or 7th round), or possibly undrafted
Now, he is exponentially increasing his draft stock. From all accounts, scouts are impressed with his measurables and he is absolutely performing at a high level. I think Mark Fields could end up being one of the highest risers in the entire NFL Draft.
He has the ability to cover and has elite speed. That speed, athleticism and strength is going to earn him some money. It was never a question of Fields’ potential, but you can definitely see him beginning to reach that.
I’ll be interested to see what his draft stock looks like here in a couple of weeks as we get closer to the actual event, but one thing is for sure:
Mark Fields was, without a doubt, one of the biggest winners of the 2019 NFL Combine and that’s going to pay dividends for him down the road.
