There are plenty of new faces and young talent participating in Clemson football’s 2019 spring practice. From all accounts, they look good.

The young talent is rich in the Clemson football program.

The Tigers return plenty of experienced and gifted veterans, but it’s been some of the younger guys that have garnered attention through the first couple of sessions of spring practice.

Here’s a look at what we’ve heard so far from the spring practice sessions for Clemson football.

  • Taisun Phommachanh looks really good

In a recruiting cycle where there weren’t many quarterback options, Clemson came away with a really good prospect to mold.

Phommachanh looks a lot like Deshaun Watson in his Clemson football uniform and is really thick, but throws the ball a little better than expected. He’s still a project and the media has only seen him in drills, but it’s clear that the skill set is there.

  • Joe Ngata, Frank Ladson are definitive members of #WRU

Joe Ngata looks big. He is the type of wide receiver that is ready to come in and play right away. Frank Ladson is smaller than Ngata, but also has a niche that we could see him play this coming season.

I really like the early reviews of Ngata. He’s a mixture of guys like Mike Williams and Charone Peake. He’s a bigger body with plenty of speed and athleticism. The amount of riches Clemson has at wide receiver is absolutely embarrassing.

  • Jaelyn Lay looks impressive

If there ever was a freshman ready to start at tight end, it may be Jaelyn Lay. He knows that the opportunity is open for him and I believe we’re going to see a lot more rave reviews about Lay as his spring progresses.

  • Tavien Feaster isn’t backing down

Feaster was contemplating transferring, but it seems that he will be sticking around. If he can continue to work hard, I think we’ll see much more of him than we have in years past.

Feaster has all the tools to get the job done and I think we’re going to see him continue to shine in the coming months.

  • Other impressions

KJ Henry looks a lot better after choosing to redshirt in 2018. It also seems as if K’Von Wallace is doing a great job becoming a leader for that defense, which is going to be important.
