After a solid freshman season, Clemson football wide receiver Derion Kendrick is set to make a major impact for the Tigers in 2019.

Derion Kendrick came to Clemson football as a talented 5-star athlete slated to play wide receiver.

Kendrick played quarterback in high school, but had competed at wide receiver and proven to the scouts and coaching staffs around the nation that he was capable of being an elite receiver talent at the next level.

He finished his freshman season with 15 receptions for 210 yards offensively and earned the starter position at kick returner.

While we didn’t see a ton of Kendrick in 2018, we’re going to see an added dose of him in 2019.

Kendrick was just a broken tackle away from a couple of touchdowns in 2018. As a matter of fact, he had a sure-fire touchdown pass from Trevor Lawrence that he just couldn’t reel in during the regular season.

While he had some freshman mistakes and couldn’t reel in a pass or two, Kendrick is still set to be an elite talent for Clemson football starting this season.

An explosive threat…

Kendrick is just too good to keep off the field.

He’s part of a very talented wide receiver room, but I think you’re going to see a lot of sets with four wide receivers on the field that will include Kendrick, Justyn Ross, Tee Higgins and Amari Rodgers this coming season.

He’ll have some jet sweep passes and I think we’ll see him used more specifically than what we did with him as a freshman.

Kendrick is the type of player that can break off a huge run at any moment. He’s extremely fast and able to be that big play, explosive threat that an offense needs.

He’s not going to get his yardage the same as a Tee Higgins or a Justyn Ross. Even so, it’s an effective and lethal combination that we are going to see in 2019.

Higgins and Ross as deep threats, with Rodgers and Kendrick as big-play threats.
