Clemson Football: 5 elite recruits who never worked out for the Tigers

2. Tony Steward

Tony Steward came to Clemson as a consensus 5-star linebacker. Steward is actually rated as the No. 8 highest-rated recruit to ever sign with the Tigers, according to 247 sports.

He’s also the highest-rated linebacker to ever sign with Clemson.

Steward had tons of potential, but was sidelined due to injury. He tore his ACL his freshman season and continued to struggle with various injuries during his time at Clemson and in the NFL.

Steward had a pretty solid senior season with the Tigers, accounting for 58 total tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss, but never was able to achieve that “elite-level” status that many hoped for. Mainly, like I said, due to injury.
