Clemson football running back commit Michel Dukes may just be a 3-star prospect by the major recruiting sites, but he will outplay his star-rating.

Clemson football picked up its 28th commitment of the 2019 class when 3-star running back Michel Dukes announced his decision Saturday afternoon.

Dukes, a talented two-sport athlete out of Charleston, SC, was officially offered a scholarship by the Tigers a couple of weeks ago after visiting using an official visit to come to Clemson.

He chose the Tigers over Syracuse and is the second running back in the 2019 class, joining 4-star Chez Mellusi.

While Dukes may just be a 3-star running back according to the major recruiting services, he has the ability to prove to be much more than his star-rating suggests.

Dukes will join a talented running back room that features Travis Etienne, Lyn-J Dixon, Tavien Feaster, Chez Mellusi and Darrien Rencher this fall. Assuming no transfers or injuries, I’d expect Dukes to play in a limit of four games and then redshirt his freshman season.

Following that, I’d expect him to make an impact in the depth chart.

The Tigers would lose both Etienne and Feaster after this season- assuming Etienne heads off to the NFL after his junior year- and that would leave spots open for Dukes to come in and establish himself.

He is a very talented runner of the football and has great vision. He hits the holes hard and is able to overpower defenders, as well.

I know many doubt the talent level that he played against, as he was a SCISA running back, but I think Dukes is going to prove to everyone very early on that he’s able to compete at the highest level of College Football. That speed is legit and his running ability doesn’t change, no matter what the competition is.
