Clemson football hosted its first Junior Day in 2019 this past weekend. Here are our final thoughts and analysis from a big recruiting weekend.

Dozens of elite recruits were on campus for Clemson football’s first Junior Day of 2019 this past weekend.

The Tigers hosted several key 5-stars and 4-stars from the 2020 cycle that soon could be commitments.

Here are our final thoughts and analysis from the recruiting weekend, starting with the biggest news of the weekend.

  • Two 4-star commitments

You don’t want to bury the lead. The biggest news regarding Clemson football this weekend had to do with the commitment of two very talented 4-star prospects.

By now, I’m sure most Tiger fans have heard about that news, but I don’t think we should take for granted just how big these two commitments are for Clemson.

4-star linebacker Kevin Swint, out of Carrollton, Georgia, was the first to pull the trigger this weekend. Swint joins 4-star Sergio Allen as the second linebacker commit of this class. I really like his athleticism and physicality.

Swint is the type of guy that can develop into being an elite linebacker and potential first-round pick one day depending on the work he puts in.

After Swint, the Tigers picked up a second commitment from another 4-star. This time it was talented defensive tackle Tre Williams. Williams is the second defensive tackle commitment. He joins 4-star Demonte Capehart and I really like the potential of these two guys playing alongside each other in the next couple of years.

Williams has the potential to come into Clemson over 320 pounds and could potentially be that next Dexter Lawrence-type of defensive tackle.

  • Offers, good times abound…

During the weekend, Clemson offered two talented running backs, both 5-stars. MarShawn Lloyd stopped by Clemson on Sunday and Demarkcus Bowman was in town for Junior Day.

There were questions originally if Bowman would make the trip or not, but it seems he had a great time.

The Tigers also offered 4-star offensive lineman Bryn Tucker. It’s clear that Clemson football is going after several offensive linemen in this cycle. The staff is heavily recruiting that position (the Tigers already have three commits in the class.

The early returns from the weekend were good and I think that the Tigers made good progress with the guys they were able to get on campus. You hope that Clemson can get 5-star WR Julian Fleming on campus soon, as well as 5-star WR Rakim Jarrett, who were unable to make the trip.
