Clemson Football: Updated Composite Recruiting Rankings for 2019 class
After a pretty vanilla Early Signing Day, here are the updated composite rankings for the 2019 Clemson football recruiting class.
Clemson football received signings from all 26 commitments Wednesday as part of the Early Signing Day.
The Early Signing Period will continue through this week until Friday. The regular period will then follow in February and run through the spring.
There won’t be much going on for the Tigers when the regular signing day hits as many of these signees will already be on campus by then.
Here’s a look at the updated composite rankings for the 2019 Clemson football recruiting class, according to the major services.
Clemson Football Recruiting Rankings:
247: No. 7
Rivals: No. 6
ESPN: No. 7
Believe it or not, Alabama is the composite No. 1 team in the nation, following by Georgia. Ahead of the Tigers in several rankings are Texas A&M, LSU, Oregon and USC.
It’s funny to me that these SEC schools are moved so high up the list. It’s almost as if when a guy commits to Alabama, he goes from being a 4-star to a 5-star prospect just like that. The same can be said about a lot of other teams in the SEC.
In the end, though, rankings don’t really matter.
Clemson addressed the needs of the team. I would’ve liked to see the Tigers come away with at least another offensive lineman, but other than that, I think each need was sufficiently met. You don’t see the Tigers just offering everybody out there. They don’t go around star-gazing or chasing talent just for the fun of chasing talent.
Dabo Swinney and his staff recruit based upon needs, not wants. They make sure they fill their scholarships and look for the right fit. It’s certainly worked for them so far and I think it’s going to continue to work for them.
