Clemson football signee Frank Ladson isn’t just another talented WR to choose the Tigers, he’s an elite downfield threat capable of playing right away.

5-star Wide Receiver Frank Ladson signed his National Letter of Intent to play for Clemson football Wednesday morning.

Ladson was one of 26 commitments to sign with the Tigers during the early signing period.

While Ladson is touted as a very talented wide receiver, he’s much more than just that. He’s a guy that has the ability to come in, play right away and be an elite down-the-field threat as a freshman for the Tigers.

Analysis:

Do you remember us talking about Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross coming out of high school and saying how those guys were going to find a way to be on the field as freshmen?

Well, the same is true with Frank Ladson.

Ladson isn’t quite as bulky as Ross (6-4, 201) coming out of high school. He measures at 6-foot-4 and around 186 pounds, which is about the same as what Tee Higgins came into Clemson as.

When I look at Ladson’s film, I see a lot of similarities between him, Ross and Higgins. He is able to go up and high-point the ball. He’s just more athletic and has more vertical and physicality than the opposing defensive backs.

As far as track speed, I’d say he’s pretty similar to Higgins and Ross, perhaps maybe a step quicker.

I’m not sure where exactly he’ll fit in on this 2019 Clemson football team. He’ll play the boundary spot at some point in his career, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the coaching staff try him at different wide-out spots just to get him on the field.

Next. Is 5-star Andrew Booth the next Mackensie Alexander?. dark

At some point next year, I think we see a formation that features Ross, Higgins, Ladson and Derion Kendrick on the field all at the same time. Talk about impossible to defend.

It will be fun to watch Ladson progress and see what he is capable of doing this year.
