Which team would Clemson football rather play should the Tigers advance to the National Championship? Alabama or Oklahoma?
The Clemson football team will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Cotton Bowl. The winner of that game will take on the winner of Alabama-Oklahoma in the National Championship in January.
While most Tiger fans would probably say they’d rather play Oklahoma than Bama, I’m not as sure heading into the CFB Playoff.
Of course, that’s all dictated on Clemson beating Notre Dame first. None of this even matters if the Tigers can’t find a way to beat the Irish in Dallas, but it’s still a fun topic to think about.
Oklahoma or Bama?
All season long, we’ve heard how dominant Alabama is. We’ve heard how the Crimson Tide are just this unbeatable force that no team can even compete with.
But, an injured Tua Tagovailoa showed the weaknesses of that team. Bama has some problems in the secondary just like Clemson and if Tua isn’t 100 percent healthy, the Crimson Tide will have some trouble moving the ball on Clemson.
A lot of analysts say that the Tide are just going to roll over Oklahoma. Maybe that’s the case, but I’m not so sure.
Oklahoma has a prolific passing offense and one of the best quarterbacks in the nation in Kyler Murray. They don’t have a defense at all, but they can score just as good as any team in the nation.
In some ways, that passing attack and the tempo that Oklahoma plays with would scare me more as a Clemson football fan than the dominance of Alabama.
It’s tough to really know for sure because we haven’t seen the teams play, but I certainly think there is a case to be made that many Tiger fans will actually be pulling for Alabama to make it back to the National Championship.
